This website is a group effort, by collectors, for collectors.

This site will provide a platform for collectors to share images of antique, vintage, & contemporary
SCRIMSHAW on old WHALE TEETH, walrus tusks, mastodon, mammoth, & elephant ivories, for all to enjoy and learn.

We will continually add articles to educate the novice and the expert, to assist in discerning between the qualities of ivory, scrimwork styles, ivory age, etc., as well as various "How To" articles.  This website offers collectors of scrimshaw & whaling artifacts, a way to inter-act and share their mutual interests.  Novice collectors will find great examples of antique, vintage, contemporary, and commissioned  scrimshaws belonging to experienced collectors.

For our
Scrimshaw Galleries section, we solicit photographs and scans from ALL collectors, of scrimshawed:
whale teeth; walrus tusks; mammoth, elephant, & mastodon ivories; bodkins; fids; etc.  Good quality JPEG images
are needed,  Please review
Submitting Photos for helpful guidelines.

We will also add regularly to our
Artist Profiles section, which is based on collections & personal experiences of contributing collectors.

We will continue to offer listings in our
Classified Ads section, geared toward collectors & scrimshanders, with scrimshaw-related items for sale by fellow collectors, tool makers, display-stand makers, etc.

Your input of photos, articles, questions &/or comments, will be greatly appreciated, and will contribute to the success of this website.  Please contact the site administrator, Douglass Moody, for assistance:
