This 8.5-inch x 10.25-in book of only 56-pages contains 20 full plate color or b&w illustrations, mostly of well-known whaling ships in side views.  12 other smaller plates of various scenes.  Each ship plate is accompanied by a few pages of historical information about that specific ship.  Inside covers show Interesting cut-away sectional views of a whaling schooner, a whaling bark, a longboat (whale boat), and a deck view of whaleboat.
Salted Tories (The Story of the Whaling Fleets of San Francisco) by Lloyd C.M. Hare
This 7-inch x 10-inch soft-bound book of 114-pages relates many whaling stories, from the CSS Shenandoah sinking more than a dozen Yankee whaler in the Pacific, AFTER Lee’s surrender, to building steam-powered ships in San Fransisco, for Arctic whaling.  Only a few b&w plates, but interesting reading.

This 9-inch x 11.25-inch, 240-page book is choc-full of b&w photos of scrimshawed whale teeth, as well as whalebone & ivory jagging wheels, fids, bodkins, seam rubbers, swifts, busks, canes, gameboxes, toys, ship blocks, belaying pins, candlesticks, sewing stands, ditty boxes, water dippers, logbook stamps, ship models, etc.  Binnacles, harpoons, figureheads, actant, ship lanterns, baskets and many other type of nautical collectibles are also pictured.
Man and the Sea - Portuguese Scrimshaw Artists by Joao A. Gomes Vieira
This HUGE 9.5-inch x 12-inch, 200-page book contains scores of beautifully detailed, color photographs.  Each page of text has one column in Portuguese, and one column in English.  The lives & scrimwork of dozens of scrimshander from the Azores and Madeira islands groups are discussed and compared.  A truly unique and incredibly beautiful book.
