Scrimshaw Gallery 9
The Saluki is an Egyptian/ mid-East hound (similar to an Afghan) bred specifically for running-down Arabian gazelle, for horse-mounted royal hunting parties.  In 1984, a long-time American Saluki breeder commissioned scrimshander Jim Krannitz of Muskegon, Michigan, to scribe this tooth, which is 4.5-inches tall.
The "Lurine" was a two-masted schooner that carried supplies and prospectors from San Francisco
to Alaska, during the Klondike gold rush.  The scrimwork is on 5.5-in x 2-in x 1-in fossil walrus tusk section,
obtained from a dig in Alaska during the 1970s.  Signed by
Kelly Mulford, and dated 1984.
This polychrome quail is on a 5.5-in x 1.38-in x 0.7-in fossil walrus tusk section, obtained
from a dig in Alaska during the 1970s.  Signed by
Kelly Mulford, and dated 1984.
This small whale tooth depicts a whaler manning a very tenuous Look-Out.
Scrimwork is signed Bellissimo.
