NOT-Quite Authentic Gallery
A favorite scrimshaw theme during the War of 1812 (left), delt with English warships impressing American sailors into British service.  The rally cry was "Free Trade And Sailors' Rights". This is a modern scrimshaw (note sharp tooth skirt with minimal age) attempting to look old.
Although this is authentic scrimwork on an authentic whale tooth (right), note that the sails face backwards on the ship!

A whaler would never have made this error. A landlubber did not do his homework!
Deer antler pipe tamper, stained to apperar old.  This, and similar pipe tampers, have been sold as antique and authentic bone.  Engraved with traditional whaler sentiment: "Greasy Luck to Whalers".
This replica is 3.75-inches tall & 0.75-inch diameter.
This is modern scrimwork on a contemporary whale tooth.

The Vermont State motto is "
Live and Let Live", which as nothing to do with the whaling ship Abigail of New Bedford MA.
Historically:
On October 24, 1835, the ship
Abigail sailed from New Bedford, reaching the North Pacific whaling ground in
mid-1836.  She returned October 26, 1838, off-loading 2,577 barrels of Sperm oil.

On May 27th 1865 (after Lee's surrender), the
Abigail was captured in the Ochotsk Sea (western Pacific) by
the Confederate raider C.S.S. Shenandoah, then burned & sunk, with no loss of life.
