|This Marquesas Island ear ornament has been stolen from a client of
Galerie Meyer - Oceanic Art.
|This as a large ha'akai, or ear ornament from the Marquesas Islands, Polynesia, made of two pieces carved from Sperm whale (physeter catodon) tooth, and fiber. The spur is a seperately carved piece, set into the base plate.
Circa early to mid 19th century. 10 x 8.2 x 3.8 cm. The small figure is 3 cm high.
